Who We Are
Kathleen Bahan Wolpert
Katie finds that therapy works best when the therapist is deeply engaged, paying attention to the client’s unique circumstances and the details he or she shares. She uses an eclectic methodology, with a strong emphasis on psychodynamic theory and practice. She earned advanced degrees from Columbia and NYU, where she graduated with honors. She went on to train as a therapist in outpatient psychiatry at Bellevue Hospital, a department renowned for excellence in mental health, before joining their staff as a full-time therapist. She has also worked as a clinician in New York City’s Mental Health Services Corps, in Northwell’s psychiatry department, and as a counselor in student health services at NYU, where her role included acting as a consultant for other therapists seeking guidance on clinical decision-making. She has guest lectured at NYU and published in academic and popular press. She received her bachelor’s degree from Sarah Lawrence College in 2005.
